Matrix's traditional board and video gaming championship event KomerOlympics returns once again! Welcome to fight for title of Master of Komero to our most exciting contest on Thursday, February 6th! Multiple math- and Komero-related disciplines are competed in the event that are listed below. Sign up is open for everyone and doesn't cost anything. The top 3 of each event are rewarded with lines (worth 0,25€) that can be used for shopping Komero products, such as coffee and snacks. Rumor has it that the overall champion will be rewarded with a unique and honourable trophy. The stakes are high! Sign up to all the events begins on Monday, January 20th at Komero. There is no sign up limit, so you may register to all the events if you so wish. The schedule for the competition day is presented below. Some events, such as Huutopussi and Catan will require playing additional qualifying matches before the day of the event. Possible qualifers will be held on February 4th to 5th. Events for this KomerOlympiad are following: Catan: This beloved probability-based strategy game is played in tournament form. There is room for 16 players. Please prepare to play qualifying matches before the competition day. LaTeX: Contestants are required to remake given mathematical formulas by coding them in LaTeX. Time is key in this event. Shouting bag (Huutopussi): This traditional three-player card game includes either envy or mockery, depending on the contents of the pirunpakka. More specific rules (only in Finnish) are located on Matrix website at Documents. Huutopussi will be played in tournament form with room for 9 players. NHL 13 (Xbox360): This video game tests your skill to win faceoffs and hitting slap shots into the net. This 1v1 format has room for 16 players. Please prepare to play qualifying matches before the competition day. Skribbl.io In this drawing and guessing online game, the fastest has the upper hand. There is room for 16 players. Go: The oldest known board game that is still played to this day has recently gained a loyal following among math students. There is room for 16 players in this tournament. Please prepare to play qualifying matches before the competition day. Loopin' Louie: This wacky children's game requires you to knock out your opponents' chicken from their roost. There is room for 16 players. Trivia quiz: Test your Matrix knowledge in a fun quiz. There is no limit to the number of participants. Dr. Mario (NES): This tetris-like video game will be played as 1v1 in a tournament form. The first 16 gets to enter the tournament. Please prepare to play qualifying matches before the competition day. Minesweeper speedrun: In this contest based on the legendary puzzle game, we’ll see who can clear the playing field of the mines first. There is no limit to the number of participants.
